Finca Marowa Details

An open-plan design of the lounge, dining and kitchen areas makes for a warm friendly atmosphere with french-windows opening onto the rear, large SE facing terrace. A patio situated at the front of the house provides the perfect spot for breakfast, being in shade from the hot morning sun. The lovely blue-granite kitchen worktops were sourced from a local quarry, which can also be visited on one of the many walks.

The beautiful swimming pool is situated close to the house. It is 10 x 3 m and maximum depth is 1.45m. Beside the pool there is a large terrace and lawns with sun loungers, hammock and table and chairs for dining. There is also a Petanque (boules) pitch and boules are provided.

Much of the finca is used for grazing sheep but this does not stop us from being able to walk all over the property and find a nice quiet corner to read, or watch the scenery and bird life.

The accommodation consists of a master suite, with private balcony and sofa bed for either sleeping under the stars in hot weather, or providing a bed for an extra person inside, and two other good-sized double en-suite bedrooms. Bedroom #2 also has an extra child bed. All have showers and one has good wheelchair access and a bath.

The house is very well stocked with a huge library and reasonably large CD and DVD collection. There is a TV (Spanish and a number of Freeview channels including Sky News), DVD and a good selection of board games. Free WiFi internet is also available but online gaming and heavy internet use is restricted.

Electricity and hot water are predominantly provided by solar panels. An emergency generator and propane-fired gas boiler provide essential back-up on cloudy days when we do not see enough of the sun (in reality, only necessary in winter). However, we all have to be very conscious about turning off lights and avoiding unnecessary use of energy. The water sourced from our borehole on the finca is wonderfully fresh tasting and is quite safe for drinking. There is a washing machine and iron, but no dishwasher. The master bedroom also has a new air-conditioner, primarily for use during the afternoon siesta as power limitations will restrict use during the night.

A wood/charcoal BBQ/oven, built inside an old wine vat is available - try cooking pizzas and bread to accompany your more traditional BBQ food!
